Nexigo even includes a handy remote that can be used to navigate the on-screen display (OSD). Its overall good build quality also means that it should stand up to the rigors of behind tossed around in a bag while traveling. Gaming performance across the board is excellent with the NG17FGQ, and it can produce some amazing colors once the panel is calibrated. If you decide to connect via HDMI, you're limited to 240Hz, which is still heady for a portable monitor. To take advantage of that fast 300Hz refresh rate, you'll need to connect over USB-C with a computer that supports full bandwidth capabilities. This is a 17.3-inch portable monitor that offers a 300Hz refresh rate and connects to a laptop or desktop via HDMI or USB-C (DisplayPort Alt-Mode). However, Nexigo offers something on a smaller scale in the form of the NG17FGQ. When you think of displays with a 300Hz refresh rate, you typically picture desktop monitors with a Full HD resolution. Throw in premium build quality – as we expect from Alienware – and top-notch video processing and the AW3423DFW hit all the high notes without any demerits worth mentioning for enthusiast gamers. The QD-OLED “heart” of the AW3423DFW gives it unmatched contrast and excellent color saturation and we felt no need to calibrate the panel further out of the box. However, the most important spec is its use of a Quantum Dot OLED (QD-OLED) panel, which offers an extremely wide color gamut and the blackest blacks you’ll find in a gaming monitor. Throw in Dell's usual solid build quality, and this represents a great monitor for enthusiasts looking to build out a mid to high-budget gaming PC. While the S3222DGM lacks HDR support, its excellent contrast doesn't detract from that missing "bullet point" and its overall performance is hard to beat at this price point. And while the S3222DGM is targeted primarily at gamers, we found that it is also great for general productivity and anything in between. This 32-inch monitor offers plenty of vertical screen real estate without the need for scrolling and 1440p resolution, the current sweet spot between image quality and gaming performance. But our sample managed to better that figure by a third, coming in at 4,000:1 in instrumented tests. VA panels are known for their excellent contrast, but the S3222DGM is rated at an impressive 3,000:1, easily blowing away IPS competitors. However, Dell really knocks it out of the park with the S3222DGM's contrast ratio. Other perks in its favor are 85 percent coverage of DCI-P3 and a display curve with an 1800mm radius. This follow-up to the highly-rated S3220DGF boasts a 32-inch VA panel, QHD resolution and 165 Hz refresh rate with Adaptive-Sync support. Considered a delta blues classic, the record also epitomized the “boogie” style with its rhythmic syncopations. An original tune recorded in 1948, the song represented the minimalist aesthetic that was Hooker’s hallmark the only instrument on the record was Hooker’s guitar, on which he strummed guitar chords in a hypnotic, loop-like fashion behind his gravelly bark of a voice. Hooker’s biggest commercial success was during the years 1949 to 1951 when he was in his thirties he put six singles in the US R&B charts, the first of which was “Boogie Chillen,” which went all the way to No. – Charles Waring John Lee Hooker – Boogie Chillen It offers a quintessential example of Johnson’s soulful wail and skeletal guitar accompaniment, and became a touchstone for later blues musicians those who covered it included Peter Green Splinter Group, Eric Clapton, and Gil Scott-Heron. The fact that Johnson died in mysterious circumstances not long afterwards made the record seem prophetic. One of the last recordings he made, released on the Vocalion label in 1938, this classic fable about Satan calling in a debt, helped to fuel the long-held myth that Johnson had made a Faustian pact with the devil at a crossroads, exchanging his soul for musical success. – Brett MilanoĬlick to load video Robert Johnson – Me And The Devil Blues “Thrill Is Gone” wasn’t the first record to fuse blues with pop, but it was the smoothest and most successful to date (hitting No.15 as a pop record) and setting the stage for many crossovers to come. The producer had no qualms about polishing King’s sound, recording him with top-flight studio players (instead of his road band) and, in this case, coaxing out one of his more heartfelt vocals. Producer Bill Szymczyk – yes, the same one who’d make millions a few years later with The Eagles – caused a small revolution when he added a string section to this track, otherwise one of many smooth ballads that BB King recorded in the 60s. While you’re reading, listen to our Best Blues Songs playlist here. Suffice to say that if Robert Johnson had never gone to the crossroads, or if BB King was still feeling a thrill, the world would be a poorer place. ![]() ![]() Many of the most influential blues songs reverberate to this day, and a few were probably covered by a local band in your town last weekend. Either they were famously covered, or the licks got borrowed, or they schooled the rockers in style and attitude. Without the blues there’d be no rock’n’roll, but certain tracks were especially pivotal. The great blues artists talked, the savviest rockers listened. ![]() This can work very rarely ( Half-Life, BioShock), but for the most part, it just makes for a strange experience. And if your goal is to try and tell a good story, it is way, way harder to do so when your lead doesn’t speak. I get that recording voicework for a male/female lead would be a decent amount of work, but in a game with hundreds or thousands of lines of dialogue, it’s probably a good idea to make sure the other halves of these conversations are voiced to make them worthwhile. The overwhelming silence made Far Cry 5 a weird experience because you have these sequences where the cult members are spewing some truly awful stuff at you, but you just have to sit there and taken it because no one wanted to be bothered to craft any lines in rebuttal. And of course there’s always good old Gordon Freeman, who comes up every time this debate is had, but he’s clearly the exception, not the rule, not to mention that even if he’s silent, he’s at least still a named character in the story, unlike Anonymous Deputy in Far Cry or Anonymous Super Guardian in Destiny. And for games like Dark Souls or Bloodborne, I could understand why it would make sense to have your character not speak given the nature of those stories and your hero’s role in them. Characters like say, Link, who have long been established as silent should probably not start speaking in their games. I think there are shades of grey when it comes to this issue. ![]() It’s ridiculous, and hard to craft a compelling story when in every scene, everyone essentially talks around you. I would argue it’s almost worse in Destiny where yes, story may be less important than in Far Cry, but your character is frequently seen in cutscenes where makes you standing there like a frozen tree all the more unnerving as characters address you directly, and instead your Ghost companion speaks on your behalf. Destiny 2 also went backwards by stripping away all dialogue from the player’s central Guardian character, who had few lines before, but now has exactly zero. Far Cry 5 is not the only game to do this lately. ![]() You can also summon a Newt Altar before activating the teleporter and offer one Lunar Coin to make the Shop appear too. Enemies in the game drop Lunar Coins randomly so make sure to grab them when you see them, and the portal to Newt’s Shop pops up randomly after clearing stages. You can free her from the Newt Shop for 10 Lunar Coins. ![]() You’d definitely have to go back for that at a later point. BanditĮven though the Bandit was added into the game later on, unlocking him is not complicated or difficult. The earliest you can do that is by obliterating yourself at the Celestial Portal at the end of the seventh level in the game, by locating the Obelisk at the end of a floating path. In the next run, you’ll need to collect the four items again and use them like last time if you wish to play as the Heretic once more. You can use the character for as long as you like – but you won’t be able to select her again. Once you have the items, replace the four default skills with the four Heresy items and your character will transform into the Heretic character. So, with 8x Lunar Coins, you should be able to obtain the right items. If you don’t find the items that you want, you can use the Reroll Pillar too and each item will cost you 2x Lunar Coins.
